Romantic Missouri Barn Wedding - Outdoor Orchard Ceremony in Weston

Krissy and Bobby’s romantic Missouri barn wedding was held at the Weston Red Barn Farm just north of Kansas City. This rustic wedding venue is one of our favorites and I can’t imagine a happier group of folks to spend the day with! Krissy, originally from California, and Bobby, from Connecticut, invited guests from coast to coast to celebrate with them. When a massive thunderstorm rolled over the hills before the ceremony, everyone was speechless. Despite booms of thunder and torrential rain, people kept exclaiming, “It’s just magical”! The storm passed, and left behind the most incredible natural light for photos. The sun even came out, and Krissy and Bobby’s outdoor ceremony in the apple orchard was bathed in a warm ethereal glow.

When we photographed Krissy and Bobby’s fall engagement session at Loose Park in KC last year, two things were clear–these two are naturals in front of the camera, and they are a perfect match for each other. With a love of the outdoors and laid back personalities, a relaxed barn wedding was an ideal location for these two to tie the knot! Krissy and Bobby also incorporated something into their wedding ceremony that we have never seen before. Their officiant began the ceremony by reading a portion of Justice Kennedy’s ruling on gay marriage. It was truly a beautiful way to promote inclusivity.

Lisa with Simple Elegance Weddings did a wonderful job of coordinating this day seamlessly. And as always, Donovan at the Weston Red Barn Farm went above and beyond, which was especially evident when he and a coworker braved the torrential rain to attach waterproof siding to the barn.
