Allie and Kody’s backyard wedding was filled with rustic charm, tons of smiles and some of the most incredible landscaping backdrops a photographer could dream of! Allie’s family owns Rost Landscaping, and one of their past clients was kind enough to offer this property for the wedding day. Located just south of Hermann, we arrived and instantly felt like we had been transported to another world. With a stunning log cabin style lodge, this was reminiscent of something you’d see at the Vail Ski Resort in Colorado. There was a bubbling creek that encircled the lodge and sweeping views of the large lake in front.
We were so excited when Allie and Kody said they were up for canoeing around the lake, despite a surprise sprinkle of rain! In case anyone out there is wondering, if there is a canoe at your wedding, you shouldn’t let it go to waste. ;)

More about this backyard October wedding near Hermann, MO:
It was so very kind of the owner to share this property with Allie and Kody for their wedding day, but this was more than just a friend’s land. This was a place where Allie’s family had worked for a full year to transform the landscape into what it was. They actually dug the pond, built flagstone paths, planted colorful gardens, and so much more. What an incredible thing to get married in a place that you helped create!
There were lots of favorite details at this wedding, but one that really stood out to me was the theme of feathers. When we first arrived, I noticed that there were guinea hen feathers in the floral centerpieces. I thought, well that’s cool. I also included lots of these gorgeous black and white spotted feathers in my own wedding, so of course, I loved this idea. Then we looked around and started seeing feathers everywhere. Allie wore a flower crown with feathers. Kody’s bouquet, made by the talented Brackish, was literally made of feathers. It was the coolest thing.
Allie also made several of the decor items herself. She made the modern wooden hexagon ceremony arbor. She also made these awesome metal pipe stands to hold signs around the property. It’s always such an honor to document weddings where the couple puts so much of themselves into the day.
Congratulations to Allie and Kody. You were beyond right. We had SO much fun photographing the two of you at this property on the wedding day. Thank you for including us!
